SOUTHWEST FLORIDA YACHTS FEATURED IN JULY ISSUE OF PASSAGEMAKER MAGAZINE!

“Comin’ and Goin’” is the title of the 8-page feature about our company in the current issue of Passagemaker Magazine!  Writer Bill Jacobs spent a day on the SFY docks in March and had a chance to observe our charter, school and maintenance activities first hand.  The result is his in-depth “behind the scenes” look at our business.  Bill also had a chance to speak to some of our charter clients, trawler training students and fleet yacht owners on a variety of topics.  Bill sat in on a charter “checkout,” interviewed charters returning from a cruise, and spoke to fleet yacht owners about the advantages of charter ownership.

Dear Barbara,

The Fort Family would like to express our appreciation for the excellent training we received from Captain Gary and Southwest Florida Yachts.  We entered this educational process with little knowledge and a lot of enthusiasm, and left with some new

Captain Gary did an excellent job of balancing the seriousness of piloting a rather large boat and the fun that is available cruising in a trawler.

The organization of your business and course was excellent and conducive to learning the material.

My son, Kirk’s [sailing] experience with Captain Bill was equally positive. . . .

We will always appreciate the training we received at Southwest Florida Yachts.  Thank you and your excellent team for all of your hard work.

Very truly yours,
John Fort,  P101-102 Power Boating Class

Dear Barb,

Three generations

Thanks for the photos.  We had a terrific time on Sootsus at Sea.  Each day took us to a new location, with lots to do and see.  We all loved South Seas and the manatees all around us.  Boca Grande was great fun, especially having the golf cart to explore the town  and visit the beach.  While we were there we tried our hand tarpon fishing with a local captain.  Useppa is very special and we loved wandering the island.  The meals were great, too.  Speaking of meals, Cabbage Key was fun for lunch.  And when they brought us hot fresh blueberry muffins at 7:30 am at Sanibel Marina, we all got big smiles on our faces.

So, for my wife Gail, daughter Allie and son-in-law Zane, and 7 year old grandson Dylan, thanks for helping us have one of the best and most memorable vacations we’ve ever had.

Best regards,
Joe Trachtenberg

Dear Vic and Barbara:

My family and I just finished a delightful charter with SW Florida Yachts and I wanted to drop you a line of thanks.  Both [Mark and Captain Gary] were excellent and “salty” assets and we could not have been more pleased with their patience and expertise.  Our pre-visit communications with Jan (and you, Barbara) were always professional . . .

In addition, the materials you sent were superb and totally unexpected including the “Gunkholer’s Guide,” chart of Charlotte Harbor, the magazine reprints, and much more.  This was truly value-added stuff!

The boat was fine . . fully equipped and a joy for myself, my wife, our son and his girlfriend.

Thanks so much for your professionalism and patience.  We’ll definitely be a repeat customer!

With best regards,

Christopher from New York

Skipagenerational Communications Phenomenon
By Barb Hansen

Grandparents and grandchildren communicate in a special kind of way.

Here’s a for instance: The grandmother is on the floor with a four-year-old boy building a Lego garage for his new fire truck.  She even makes truck engine and siren-like noises.

And here’s the granddad with his five-year-old granddaughter holding a birthday party for Barbie and her friends.  Who would have thought a granddad could fuss over Rapunzel’s long hair?

I am not a doctor. I arrange yacht charters and liveaboard yacht courses for a living.  But I am a keen observer of human behavior. I call this Skipagenerational Communications Phenomenon (SCP). To read on, Click Here...
